The holy Spirit that has been given
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? — 1 Corinthians 6:19. The Holy Spirit is not an occasional visitor to the Christian man’s life. He is resident. He has been given. The question is not whether He is present but whether the man is aware of and responsive to His presence.
What the Holy Spirit provides for Christian men
Power — Acts 1:8
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. The word used is dunamis — the source of our word dynamite. This is not gentle influence. It is transformative power for witness, for resistance, for service. The Christian man who operates in the power of the Holy Spirit is operating beyond his natural capacity.
Guidance — John 16:13
When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. The Holy Spirit guides — which implies that the Christian man’s role is to listen and follow. This requires the quietness, the scripture and the prayer that most men’s busy lives consistently crowd out.
Fruit — Galatians 5:22-23
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These are not qualities a man produces by trying harder. They are fruit — they grow in a man who abides in Christ and walks in the Spirit. The Forged in Faith Spirit section (Days 20-28) is built around this reality.

Why many Christian men are not walking in the Spirit’s fullness
The primary barriers are not theological — most Christian men believe in the Holy Spirit. The barriers are practical: lives that are too full of noise to hear, too busy to sit still, too distracted to pray with sustained attention. The daily briefing habit — scripture, prayer, stillness — is the practical infrastructure that creates space for the Holy Spirit to work in a man’s daily life.
How to cultivate awareness of the Holy Spirit daily
- Begin every day with at least 10 minutes of stillness before scripture — before your phone, before the news, before the demands begin.
- Read scripture slowly, not to complete a quota but to allow a specific verse or phrase to arrest your attention.
- Speak aloud in prayer — the voice externalises and focuses in a way that thought alone cannot.
- Ask specifically to be filled with the Spirit at the start of each day.
- Practise immediate obedience to the promptings you receive — because the Spirit’s voice grows louder in men who act on what they hear.
